Would this be suited for use with a small 110V motor with max amperage of 0.5A?
If your goal is to step down 277V to 115V to power a small 110 V motor, be aware that electrical transients are normal in motor applications and large or repeated power spikes can cause damage over time. With a non-isolated autotransformer, allowing faults or surges at the motor to propagate onto the primary (277 VAC) side, is potential of an electrical hazard.
