Are either of the two photos correct?
I am needing to make sure, although they are controlled differently, that my 3.3v logic and reverse UART controls do not interconnect.
This was the beforehand circuit:
As far as I can tell, the part is actually a MOSFET instead of an NPN transistor. They seem to have the same package look as NPNs. They do sometimes have similar package designs. A N-channel MOSFET can still accomplish the same thing , but you don’t really need a 1k resistor on the Gate pin. All you need to drive the gate is 4.5V or 10V. If RC_SBUS isn’t held at that level, it may be better to find a NPN transistor instead. Do you know if you need a specific Beta factor or are you just using it as a switch? If so, you don’t need one that handles all that much current and the beta factor won’t matter as much for saturation mode.
The analogies for drain and source relative to emitter and collector mentioned would appear to be backwards.
RC_SBUS is 5v.
That is what I gather from the diode on the N-Channel MOSFET.
The entire post I was going to make may have come to a premature end. Injured for now, not associated with the post/project, and trying to solder with one arm is ridiculously complicated.

Anyway, the broken joint may have actually saved the project. I see I have floating GNDs.
