Unfortunately I’m finding no alternative to suggest. IDC-terminated card edge connectors in general appear to be a connector style that has fallen out of favor.

These are the only 34-position, 0.1" card edge connectors that are regularly stocked. Seeing as they’re all board-mounted, building an adapter PCB to connect one of them to a ribbon connector such as one of these may be an option.

I can’t offer specific guidance on how to build an adapter; additional decisions driven by your specific needs would have to be made in that process. The basic idea is simply to fabricate a PCB that carries and couples a connector of each type, allowing you to end up with a something that ends up connecting a ribbon cable to a card edge. The below (sort of) illustrates the concept.
Hi Martha — one point would help narrow this down before going further. Is this maintaining existing equipment where the 34-position 0.100" card-edge interface itself must remain unchanged, but the ribbon-cable/IDC side could be adapted — or must the replacement also retain the original IDC cable termination?
