It is important to review the datasheet of an AC fan upon ordering to see if there is an external capacitor requirement for the fan in order to operate.
These are typically not needed for the tubeaxial fans, but become more of concern when looking at other styles such as a motorized impeller type like below:
As examples, below are a couple of fans that do not come with a capacitor. I’ve listed a wet metal case option for each but generally speaking a different capacitor can also be used as long as it is rated for equal or higher voltage (220V for these fans) and the appropriate uF rating.
Note: Fully discharge the capacitors before working on a device, they store power during and after unit is off and supply is disconnected.
