> Alligator, Crocodile, and Heavy-Duty Test Clips are most often used between an electronic circuit and a measurement device, providing a temporary electrical connection. Items in this family are spring loaded and contain two jaws with serrated teeth. The types are alligator, battery terminal clamp, bus bar clip, clamp, crocodile, dolphin, geophone, heavy duty, Kelvin, Pee-Wee, and telecom.

  

**Selection**** Characteristics**

> **Type:** Indicates the style and configuration of the device.

> **Jaw Opening:** The distance between the jaws of a device when fully opened.

> **Voltage - Rated:** Typically this represents the maximum voltage rating to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this voltage rating may damage the device and other system components.

> **Current Rating (Amps):** Typically this represents the maximum current to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this current may damage the device and/or other system components.

> **Material:** Indicates the material composition of the device.

> **Plating:** Indicates the finish/plating material applied to the device.

> **Material - Insulation:** Indication of the type of material used in the fabrication of the insulation.

> **Insulation:** Indicates if the item has insulation and to what extent.

> **Color:** The dominant color of the device.

> **Length:** Indicates the length of the device.

> **Termination:** Selection of termination style used to connect the device to a system, such as banana, barrel, crimp, or solder.

> **Quantity:** Indicates the number of items received or the minimum purchase quantity.

> **Ratings:** Minimum performance standards of the device, which are typically set by a third party.
