------Question for AS7058A EVK EXTENSION BOARD Please Put your question below------
Does anyone can provide schematics and general use guidance for this experimentation board? Absolutely no documentation or reference at OSRAM document center.
Osram simply claims it is an extension board to its AS7058 EVK kit, but, if this is true, why do I find an AS7058 chip on this extension board? The AS7058 chip already located on the AS7058 EVK kit should suffice? Any clue ?
Hello,
Welcome to the TechForum.
I was able to locate 2 guides with the AS7058 sensor information we have available. let me know if this is what you are needing.
Quick start guide
evaluation kit guide
Thank you
Ryan
Thanks a lot for your quick reply Ryan. Sadly, I already have these two documents and they only deal with the AS7058-EVAL_KIT which we also have on hand in our lab.
The AS7058_EVK EXTENSION BOARD is an add-on board to this kit. I found absolutely no documentation for it, whereas it should at least have a datasheet available. It allows for connecting external Leds and photodetectors to let us experiment various wavelengths. The problem is that I do not have a clue how this addon board works (apart from its straightforward connection to the main kit) nor can we assess its jumpers locations, and how we can address it.
Contacting Osram support is useless, so Digikey is our only option
Hello marc.nader,
The only thing I found on the manufacture’s website, is a Photo.
You can try contacting AMS-OSRAM for further information on this board.

Thanks David, already done
Hi marc_in_paris,
This probably doesn’t help too much, but looking on page 98 of the Eval Kit User’s Guide, it shows the pinout for J22, which I believe is the external interface which would be used to connect the main board to the Extension Board.
Also, on page 96, it states that jumper JP41 (a.k.a. X41) can be set to “External AS7058 Active” by shorting pins 1-2 together. Presumably, if you set JP41 to External, then any commands sent would go to the extension board device rather than the main board device.
It definitely helps David… you’ve been my second eyewear pair today ! I totally missed this info in the EVK guide, and it makes me more confident carrying my tests. Still, many jumpers on the culprit EVK extension card, and not a single word or documentation on Osram website… except their magic graphic board representation. Wonderful.
