Bias wiring

amp ab763. I have a problem with bias voltage…why would I get a voltage of -130v

Hi Mike,

Not sure why you’re having problems there but there are some sources online about that amp that provide information on it. Something like Understanding Fender’s AB763 Blackface Amplifier Models: A Complete Guide - KR Sound seems to have some insight.

Hello @mikecasey,

That seems excessive for a Fender Deluxe especially when the bias capacitor in in the 50 VDC range.

Are you certain the voltage is -130 VDC relative to the chassis?

  • I can see several ways it could be at a destructive positive 130 VDC. Although, if it was, the output tubes would be red hot.

Sincerely,

Aaron
