Can CLIFFCON MINIATURE ZC SERIES be installed on 3/8" Armored cable

Digikey team,

I was hoping to get a little product support and pricing on the following. Would these connectors be able to clamp onto 3/8" flex like in the photo below?

2 Pole… FC684212 [Plug Part Numbers:]

2 Pole… FC684202 [Socket Part Numbers:]

Greetings,

The linked datasheet indicates a 6mm max cable diameter, which is somewhat less than a quarter inch. Not really enough to grab onto the metallic itself.

However, I suspect what you’re looking at in the above is an install where somebody put heat shrink over the conductors and ran that through the cable strain relief, while using some additional shrink tube around the outside to hold the shielding to the connector shell.

Depending on what that cable’s carrying and the disposition of the local authorities, I imagine that could work with the connectors in question. The Qualtek Q5-4x is my personal shrink tube of choice…

Thanks Rick, I think that your proposed double layer of heat shrink would be a perfect solution for this application.

Do bear in mind that this would be more of a hack than a “proper” assembly, and as such it’s your responsibility to decide whether or not the approach is suitable for the task, and defend that conclusion if somebody else decides to disagree.

As to the other portion of the original question, pricing would be as indicated on the respective product pages.
