I appears the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 IO Board will have a Micro SD socket for a memory card.
No, not as is.
SC1924 Ships with “Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 Wireless, 4GB RAM, 32GB eMMC (CM5104032)” The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 IO Board microSD connector, can ONLY be used with an a Raspberry PI 5 LITE compute module with out eMMC..

Meaning i can only use normal MicroSD? Am I right?
With the SC1924 kit, you can not use the microSD interface with the included CM5104032 plugged in. If you want to use the microSD for any reason, you must remove the CM5104032 and plug in any “LITE/0GB/eMMC” modules.. Here is a breakdown of the CM5 module part numbers:
So the included CM5104032 is:
CM5 = Compute Module 5
1 = Wireless
04 = 4GB of Ram
032 = 32GB of eMMC
So to use the microSD on this kit, you need to purchase/use:
CM5 = Compute Module 5
(0 or 1) = No/Wireless enabled
(01->16) = 1GB → 16 GB of Ram
000 = 0 GB (Lite)
So part-number: CM5(0 or 1)(01->16)000
So as long as you use the correct Compute Module 5, you can use the microSD slot with any normal microSD, and this microSD will also have to contain your OS.
