The datasheet for this part gives a formula for determining length. One variable is centerline. I need a nine pole device. How do I determine the length, as I need an active alternate for this obsolete part.

From the formula on the datasheet, the original should have a length of 45mm.
Number of poles (9), -1 = 8. X pitch (5mm) = 40. Then +5 = 45mm.
A good alternate with the same 45mm length, is part number A135932-ND.
Please check the datasheet.
then they should use the same language, pitch is not centerline. centerline is a location. pitch is a measurement.
