Diameter Item 26B05-BFA018000T

Hello Team,

Could you please help us confirm the diameter of part 26B05-BFA018000T? The drawing does not specify the diameter, and this is currently generating rework to enlarge the hole.

The functional diameter required for the assembly is 0.131"–0.140".

Greetings,

The intent of the question is not immediately clear, as “diameter” typically references a circular feature.

Typical installations would place the material under some amount of compression in the vertical axis of the cross-sectional view. Exactly how much would depend on the use case and tolerances involved in the assembly, but I’d consider compressing to a 0.140" height from the 0.32" resting state to be rather aggressive. One only needs to design for enough spring displacement of the material to ensure contact despite any dimensional uncertainty in the assembly and provide a slight brushing effect, and without any additional information I’d suggest that designing for a 0.3" compressed height might be a good starting point.

Hello, I appreciate your reply on this. This means that the part number doesn’t have a diameter? Do you have a drawing that you could share?

Thank you.

Hello,

Is there someone we could have a phone call for technical questions on this?
Also could you share the drawing of this part number?

26B05-BFA018000T

Thank you.

The drawing in your original post describes the item’s geometry in significant detail. If you’re looking for something in addition to this, please explain.

As per the drawing in the initial post, the material has radiused features, but none that are substantially circular. Hence the confusion and request for clarification.

This forum is the preferred venue for a variety of reasons, including the ability to share visual information. Some photos of the application would likely be very helpful in understanding the nature of the questions at hand.

Hi karla.enriquez,

The drawing you added from the datasheet in your first entry above IS the drawing. It provides every dimension of the part.

As @rick_1976 stated, “diameter” refers to a circular object, which this is not, so it does not make sense when referring to this part:

Hi @David_1528 ,

I appreciate your patience and explanation on this issue. My engineering team told me that the diameter they are referring to is the one measuring 0.094 in. on the actual parts, see below:

This appears to be a customer design issue, as the rivet we install has a diameter of 0.125 in. Therefore, we currently need to rework the hole using a drill bit to accommodate the rivet.

Thank you very much.

Karla

Ahh, I understand what you are asking for now. You are looking for mounting hole specifications.

As this part comes with adhesive mounting tape, it is assumed that most manufacturers would mount this part with the adhesive rather than via rivets, thus making it unnecessary to specify mounting hole dimensions in their documentation.

From your image above with the 0.094" (3/32") diameter shaft, it looks like you have determined the approximate diameter of the standard part. For any other mounting hole size, that would be considered a custom part and you would need to contact the manufacturer of the part, Orbel Corporation, directly.

Here’s a link to their direct contact information.

I greatly appreciate your insight and information on my inquiry.

We will reach out to Orbel Corporation.

Thank you.
