What are the differences among 58246-1, 58246-2 and 58246-3?

I see different crimp head part numbers associated to different cable applications such as discrete, ribbon, cable to board.

This document from TE would appear to indicate that the -1 is intended for non-production use while the -2 is, and the -3 contemplates application to ribbon cables rather than discrete wire.
