I would like to purchase the BAT54S from NXP, but I noticed that DigiKey currently has no stock available. However, do have the BAT54S from Diotec Semiconductor in stock.
Could you please confirm whether the Diotec part is electrically and mechanically equivalent to the NXP BAT54S? Is it a direct replacement, and can I use it without any issues in place of the NXP part?

There appears to be a few options for BAT54S from NXP; we would need to know which one specifically you’re inquiring about in order to provide insight on the substitute.
Chances are the differences you’re going to see in many of these are footprint and certification differences. I highly recommend checking out the following post for some insight on parts like this one:

Be aware that NXP spun off most of their discrete semiconductor products, amongst some other lines, into a new company called “Nexperia”. See here:
Therefore, the Nexperia “BAT54S” is the exact same part as the NXP part.
Also be aware that the letters that follow the “S” in the part number may be significant. Specifically, if immediately followed by a “W”, it means it is in an SC-70 (a.k.a. SOT-323) package, whereas if it is not followed by the “W”, it is in a TO-236-3 (a.k.a. SOT-23-3) package.
The other trailing characters represent the size of reel they come in and/or automotive qualification standards.
