Considering the tensile strength of music wire to be from 230,000 PSI to 399,000 PSI (estimate based on this report), it actually breaks a spring life calculator available on Century Spring:
That is most likely due to the fact that at maximum compression, it only experiences 60,212 PSI at most. You can expect nearly infinite life (over 10 million is considered “infinite”) if you are using the spring as intended. If you apply over the tensile strength, you are going to drastically reduce the life.
