Hi,

I recently purchased an **[ED-HMI3120-070C](https://www.digikey.com/en/products/filter/human-machine-interface-hmi/machine-interface/946?s=N4IgTCBcDaIKIBEC0AJAsgSQMwEYwAYl8B2fAYRAF0BfIA)**. The display works normally, but occasionally shows a completely white screen after the device is powered off and then turned on again.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue with this model? Could this be related to the LCD firmware, and is there a recommended way to update or fix it?

Thanks for any advice!

Hi sding,

Sorry, I’ve not heard of that issue with these. I’ll try to touch base with EDATEC and see what they say. I’ll get back to you here once I have some feedback from them. Otherwise, maybe someone on here has dealt with that issue and can help you in the mean time.

Regards.

I suspect what you’re experiencing is the boot time of the Rasbian Operating System on the Raspberry Pi that drives these screens

Hello **[sding](https://forum.digikey.com/u/sding),**

I’ve had some response from the EDATEC on this as per the following:

Based on the current symptoms, this issue is very likely caused by a known MCU firmware anomaly — which has already been fixed in a recent version. The solutions are as follows (choose either one):

Send the device back to the manufacturer, for after-sales service.

If you have the capability to flash STM32, they can provide detailed firmware update steps and the necessary files.

In addition, to help further verify whether I²C communication is abnormal, you may perform the following temporary diagnosis (no hardware changes required):

Edit the /boot/cmdline.txt file and append the parameter at the end: trace\_event=i2c;

Save and restart the device;

Execute the following command to view the relevant logs:

sudo cat /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/trace | grep “i2c-10” | grep “a=027”

Hope that helps.
