Hello,

I would like to build a small radio that is receive only and would like clarification on certification. Since the esp-32 room is certified can I use the esp32-c6 dev board bypassing certs because its been certifieD?

Regarding part number 1965-ESP32-C6-DEVKITC-1-N8-ND

While this board has FCC certification as a module it does not allow you to bypass certifications of any commercial end product by relying on the evaluation boards certification. This board is ment for evaluation and development rather than a final commercial deployment.

Using radio modules pre-certified for the countries for which the end-product is intended to be used will help expedite the certification process for the whole product. That is the advantage of using pre-certified modules over designing the radio portion as well.

However, regardless of whether pre-certified modules are used or not, the final end-product must still be certified as well. It’s just significantly easier to pass with pre-certified RF modules.
