FDB-1032-SFP+ Evaluation Board Manual Operation

I want to send in an electrical signal of 50% duty cycle (low-high low-high) to measure the response of a photodiode my research group has fabricated. I do not care about information being passed optically, I just want to create an AC digital optical signal. In order to do this, I was hoping to use a function generator or pulse pattern generator and manually use the TX RX ports on the board (avoid the software and GUI if possible).


The linked datasheet for the eval board in question describes switch settings for manual operation.

That said, there’s a sparsity of question marks above leading to some uncertainty as to the specific question being posed. Could you please clarify on that point?
