Follow-up on Received TE Parts – Length Mismatch (TE Spec Confirmed)

Dear DigiKey Support Team,

We would like to follow up on the TE parts supplied:

  1. 8-640917-1
  2. 8-42844-1

TE has confirmed that the official specifications and drawing dimensions are correct and there have been no revisions to the part design or tolerances.

However, the parts received appear to be shorter than the specified length stated in the official TE datasheet:

  • 8-640917-1: Length = 20.32 mm ±0.127 mm ( we received → 19.50mm ) - 0.82mm

  • 8-42844-1: Length = 25.705 mm ±0.127 mm ( we received → 24.68mm ) -1.025mm

Since the specification has been verified by TE, we would like to request your assistance to investigate the discrepancy between the supplied parts and the official specification.

Welcome to the forum.

In standard USA drawings the letters "MAX" placed in the override tolerance space of a dimension qualifies for the “Unless Otherwise specified” exception to the general tolerances specification.

So by my reading of the drawing, the parts match the specs because they are less than the specified maximum lengths.
