Does ST Micro define this parameter anywhere?
Hello stephen.franks,
I’m sorry, but the datasheet does not list a Forward Transconductance.
You will have to contact the manufacture directly, to see if they have that rating for this device.
Searching on Google, it appears to be the ratio of the change in collector current (Ic) to the corresponding change in Gate-Emitter voltage (Vge), while keeping the collector-emitter voltage constant.
So this will have to be determined by testing the product by the manufacture, or yourself.
Forward Transconductance is a specification for MOSFETs that does not apply to IGBT components.
IGBTs are intended as power switches not to be used in the linear region.
I just researched an IGBT that specifies it.
Thanks
I stand corrected. Here is a helpful Application Note from Infineon
