Please, help identify the manufacturer of this component.
It appears to be a Thyristor Surge Suppressor or Spark Gap.
Marking code: DS1 2308K, DS1 2125F
I’ve never come across a logo like that before, and I’m very interested to learn more about it.
Thanks.
Must be pretty rare if @Adam7 hasn’t seen it before :).
The logo resembles Bel fuse, although this is a bit less rounded. Bel fuse do not seem to offer products in that package. Must be something else. “G” is a non-standard designator.
Cheers, heke
heke,thanks for the reply.
I’ve looked through manufacturer logos featuring the letter “B” and their marking styles—including Bel Fuse—but unfortunately, I haven’t found anything similar.
The marking on the component is most likely “2308K” or “2125F,” but again, nothing matches.
Honestly, situations like this make me uncomfortable. ![]()
Hi @Adam7 ,
What about all the other parts on the board, are they COTS or unknowns? If the board is military or aerospace, the marking can be whatever they choose. I bet you have already checked all the typical forensics (origin of the board, the gravity of component vendors, on-line documentation, etc.) so won’t even try to suggest.
I think your guess about the component type is spot on (high voltage bi-directional thyristor based crowbar or other “hard limiter”) due to the designator G and the apparent air-gap under the part. The plastic case (SMB?) suggests that there is a semiconductor device inside.
Maybe the ‘b’ is not a logo, but a week code etc? Who knows.
Have a good weekend, cheers, heke
Hi @heke,
I’d like to post the answer to my question here.
My colleagues helped me with this.
The component is the BIS-DS602-S, manufactured by Boarden Electronics Ltd (BIS – Boarden Electronics).
The Boarden Isolated Surge (BIS) protection device is a semiconductor device developed to meet the surge protection requirements of non-isolated LED drivers.
Now I can sleep soundly. ![]()
