Hitachi HD64F3048F16V and Rochester D73048SF16V

I’ve recently bought some D73048SF16V’s ; they should be a drop-in replacement for the Renesas HD64F3048; I have had them mounted on my boards but the programming sequence doesn’t work: I see no response when the programmer initiates the handshake; the programming voltage is correct (12V). I have replaced 2 D73048SF16V’s with 2 old HD64F3048’s and have programmed them correctly. So the difference seems to be in the chip; any suggestions?

Hello, according to this datasheet (D73048.pdf), the Rochester part is actually a HD64F3048 (128Kb on-chip FZTAT flash, 12VPP programming voltage). Am I missing something? Is there some application note showing the differences between the 2 parts? Thanks

I may have missed it in there, but I didn’t find anything in the document to which you referred that shows that the D73048SF16V is actually the HD64F3048. Did you have a specific page number that shows that?

Looking at page 69 of the datasheet linked to the HD64F3048VF8, it looks to me that the HD6473048S (I am presuming that this is an alternate callout for the D73048SF16V, which may not be the case), is just “ZTAT”, meaning OTP memory, whereas the HD64F3048 is F-ZTAT, meaning flash memory.

From page 64 of the HD64F3048VF8 datasheet:

Every document I have looked through indicates that there must be an “F” right after the “HD64” for the part to have a flash-based “F-ZTAT” memory.

yes, I think we have found the issue…what would the Rochester code for the F_ZTAT part be? is it available? thanks

From what I can tell, the DF3048FI16V is the one option we have that is likely what you’re looking for. Because this is an obsolete line with limited information available, I can’t guarantee that this would be it, but it seems likely.

  • The first “F” would call out “flash”.
  • The “3048” calls out 128k of flash memory.
  • The second “F” calls out the FQFP package.
  • The “I” calls out industrial temperature rating (we don’t list the non-“I” commercial temp variant).
  • The “16” calls out the same 16MHz speed.
  • The “V” calls out “lead free”.

Hi, I have found this too: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/rochester-electronics-llc/DF3048X16V/11556936; same price, more parts available. the only difference seems to be the package: 100-TQFP vs. 100-BFQFP (the part that You suggested). According to this datasheet: DF3048FI16V.pdf , this part comes in 2 packages: 100-QFP and 100-TQFP and the only difference is the height of the part. It’s not very, clear, what’s your suggestion? I hadn’t suggested that one because I couldn’t find information about the “X” in the part number, which indicates the package type. I was concerned that it may indicate a different package type (smaller, rectangular, etc.) rather than just a package thickness difference.

However, I found a legacy document for related product which stated that the “X” refers to the “PTQP0100KA-A” package code, which was formerly referred to as the “TFP-100B” package, and that is the square thin TQFP 100-pin package with 0.5 mm pitch pins, so I think it appears to be a match.
