I am evaluating the replacement of the Icron 2224 extender, which has reached end-of-life status, with the ICR2324 USB 2.0 Ranger® 2324/2344 Extenders (DigiKey Part Number 5073-ICR2324-ND)
As part of this evaluation, I would like to know if Icron 2324 is compatible with Icron 2224 without requiring a PCBA redesign. Do they share the same firmware? Could you please provide more information regarding this?

To clarify You would be referring to the below items from L-com?
If so, It looks like the 2344 would be the direct replacement for the 2244 and also from a functionality stand point would be directly compatible. As for the PCBA / firmware question I am not sure on that as they look to nominally come in a case and be used in that manner. Would you be then taking these out of the cases and using it in a larger assembly?
If so, I would advise either contacting L-Com for the PCBA / firmware question or getting 1 of the ICR2324 for your review.
