Is G0413A a latching/bistable solenoid?

We require a latching solenoid or bistable solenoid and we would like confirmation that this product G0413A does as follows.

  • It has two stable positions (in and out).

  • It stays in its last position when power is removed.

  • Reversing the polarity changes which position it moves to.

  • It makes a mechanical click as it changes state.

  • When power is applied, the actuator moves to the extended (out) position.

  • When power is removed, it remains in the extended position because it is held by a permanent magnet.

  • The actuator produces a distinct click each time it changes between the two positions.

  • The direction of movement depends on the polarity of the applied voltage.

  • If positive is connected to positive and negative to negative, applying power moves the actuator to the extended (out) position.

  • If the polarity is reversed (positive to negative and negative to positive), applying power moves the actuator back to the retracted (in) position.

  • By reversing the polarity, you can electrically control movement in both directions—extending and retracting the actuator.

Apply power, it extends. Remove power and provide release voltage in opposite polarity to unlatch. it has a spring that helps return it to the retracted position.

Could you please advise whether DigiKey carries a true bistable (dual-position latching) solenoid with the following characteristics:

  • A pulse of one polarity extends the actuator.
  • The actuator remains extended after power is removed.
  • A pulse of the opposite polarity retracts the actuator.
  • The actuator remains retracted after power is removed.
  • No return spring is used to move the actuator back; both positions are maintained without continuous power.

If so, could you please recommend a suitable part number?
