> Knobs are accessory attachments that provide visual and tactile features for HMI (Human-Machine Interface) controls or mechanical advantage and grip for adjustable fasteners. Knobs used for HMI interfaces such as rotary switches or potentiometers may be color-coded, numbered, or include indicators such as arrows, dots, lines, and notches. They are selected by style, type, shaft size, diameter, material, and specific features.

  

**Selection**** Characteristics**

> **Style:** Indicates the physical configuration of the knob.

> **Type:** Defines the number of arms or other physical features of the knob such as fluted, ribbed, or smooth.

> **Shaft Size:** Indicates the shaft diameter or screw thread with which a knob is intended for use.

> **Diameter:** The overall diameter of the knob.

> **Height:** The overall height of the knob.

> **Indicator:** Describes style and location of features that provide a visible indication of knob orientation.

> **Material:** What material the knob is made of.

> **Color:** What color the knob is.

> **Features:** Defines any special markings or mounting styles.
