KYOCERA AVX offers a variety of passive components for many industries, including a selection of tantalum capacitors. One of these capacitors, TCJB106M025R0150, has recently seen a few questions concerning some pitting and small dents or depressions in the metal of its contact plates on either side of the device, above the board. Are these considered defective products?
The above image, as well as images in the product documentation, are computer generated and show the part cleaner and smoother than physical tools usually allow for. Minor dings and dents in the contact plates on either side of the device are not generally considered defects; these cosmetic blemishes are part of the product’s forming and molding process and do not hamper its functionality.
