I am looking to measure the capacitance and resistance of a Series RC circuit.
1uF Capacitor
100 Ohm Resistor
I do not have access to internal components and will be measuring pin connectors.
This would be performed in field. Please provide a list of meters that could be used to measure these values. I noted the B&K 880 Model, This seems like a good option but wanted to confirm.

Hello @roberte.miller,

This is a pedestrian circuit.

Most [LCR meters](https://www.digikey.com/en/products/filter/specialty-equipment/618?s=N4IgjCBcoMwwrFUBjKAzAhgGwM4FMAaEAeygG0QYA2AFgAYAmOkI6%2BhhkAXSIAcAXKCADK-AE4BLAHYBzEAF95RTpApZkYgAQBbPPzxju8oA) should be able to differentiate between a series connected 1 uF capacitor and 100 Ω resistor.

As an alternative, you could use a function generator and oscilloscope to sweep the circuit. You could also use a device such as the Digilent analog discovery as shown in this article.

> Textbook vs real-world resistor attributes The textbook categorization of resistors, based on resistance, tolerance, and power rating, is incomplete. In this article we will demonstrate that real-world resistors have unexpected reactive attributes. This is especially true of wire wound types which exhibit both resistive and a significant inductive reactance at high frequencies.

Please let us know if you were successful.

Best wishes,
