LED identification for instrument cluster

Hi

I’m trying to identify the specs for a SMD led on a 2010 Toyota Corolla instrument cluster (combination meter) board. The board is 83800-0W720 if that is any help. The car model, ZRE152R, is common in Australia.

The led is for a turning indicator flash. It is a green domed led which I assume is a 3030 smd. At least I have determined that it is 3mm x 3mm with a notched corner.

I have attached a picture. Does anyone know what this is or where I might find a circuit board diagram to get the specs?

You’ll be hard pressed to find a schematic or proper diagram for the circuit, since it’s likely proprietary to Toyota. Possibly some auto repair forums would have resources for this, but I haven’t yet found a consistent way to get detailed information like that for replacing bad components in an instrument panel.

Perhaps you could narrow down the possible options for the LED by looking at the rest of the board and attempting to find out how much voltage is running to it. There’s probably a voltage regulator or buck converter IC that might give us a clue.

Based on appearance and the info you have, part number 516-ASCQFG30-N1222G2G302CT-ND looks like the best match we have, but that’s just an initial impression. You can look at the datasheet to see if it’s a reasonable option: ASCQxx30 Series

Thanks Chris.

That part isn’t quite right because the contact plates span the width of the led in my case, but it is close.

Shall I send a photo of the panel from the back?

There is some writing on the top of the led which I think reads I_F X1. I don’t think it has any meaning except for a toyota bin number.

Here I’ve shown where the turning indicator leds are mounted on the board. I’ve removed the faulty one on the right.

In case anyone is interested Google Gemini was my friend. It suggested that Toyota combination meters often use 3528 smd LEDs so I searched for that.

As far as I can tell this looks like the part I need

Nice find! I noticed that it has an order minimum of 2,000 pieces, so if anyone needs something similar that’s available in smaller quantities, we also have part number 732-150141GS63120CT-ND in stock right now.

@chris_groom When I saw the 2000 minimum order I started to look elsewhere so thanks for the link. However the dimensions of your alternative are not an exact match 3.2mm vs 3.5mm. Also the lens is tinted rather than clear. I’m not sure if either of those differences matter.

Actually the datasheet shows it is the correct size between the contacts; 3.5mm.

$26 shipping for a few LEDs that could be sent in an envelope with bubble wrap is patently ridiculous.

It seems unusual unless it’s being shipped internationally, in which case it frankly wouldn’t surprise me. Unfortunately shipping cost is going to depend on the carrier you select and factors that I don’t have any control over. You might be able to get an explanation at least from a Customer Service or Sales rep.
