Looking for a connector for a coaxial RF cable with a 1.5 mm inner diameter wire

------Question for PE517797 Please Put your question below------

Can PE517797 accept a 1.5 mm solid center conductor? What is the maximum center conductor diameter for solder attachment?

I currently have an unknown, but definitely working RF cable for frequencies up to 12 GHz, and the center pin on one of the SMA-like connectors has broken. The cable’s outer diameter is 4.3 mm.

Hi @antonkh ,

Welcome to DigiKey TechForum and thanks for your inquiry.

No — PE517797 will not accept a 1.5 mm solid center conductor.
It is sized for ~0.9–1.0 mm max, and a 1.5 mm solid pin is too large for the solder cup/inner contact.

What PE517797 is designed for (key constraint)

PE517797 is a 3.5 mm male clamp/solder connector explicitly specified by Pasternack for these cable types:

This is stated directly in the manufacturer description and datasheet.

That matters because Pasternack sizes the solder cup and inner contact to match the center conductor of those cables, not generically to “any solid wire”.
