I have this display in a piece of equipment, I need an equivalent, anyone know if there is a modern replacement. I’m unable so far to get any OEM help.. it is a 4x20 display on a 98 x 60 circuit board. Are all these 16 pin displays essentially the same standardized terminals?

Unfortunately I could not come up with a part number for this one.
4x20 character displays of roughly that size that are in stock can be found here.
One cannot be assured of direct pin compatibility, but there’s a degree of commonality in the realm that makes for a probability that doesn’t round to zero. Comparison of measurements from existing equipment to the datasheet of a replacement candidate may offer some additional insights on the question.

Reinforcing @rick_1976’s statement, though there is no official standard, it’s very common for various vendors to follow the following pinout on 16-pin single row headers with pin 1 in the upper left corner when the characters read left-to-right and top-to-bottom.
Typically pins 15 and 16 are left for the anode and cathode, respectively, of the backlight LEDs in this format.

One thing that sometimes varies among various displays is the timing requirements, depending on which LCD controller is integrated into the product.
They all seem to have the same command format and character map (based on the standard set by the long-obsolete Hitachi HD44780), but the minimum timing can vary. If a replacement display does not always work as expected, sometimes just slowing down the Enable pulse (extending High time) can resolve problems.
Thanks for the insight, it’s a legacy product repair. I’m hoping it will work as is.. adjustment of the pulse may not be possible. It’s ordered and on its way.. I will post the outcome
