Molex Part Identification Help

Hello Forum,

Was wondering if someone can help me identify some Molex parts and part numbers.

The parts in question are a Molex 2 pin, 1 row connector both male and female as well as the metal crimps that fit in them…these are on a 10 year old sports ball throwing machine. The machine has a detachable battery pack that connects to the main machine and circuit board via this connector. I’ve attached some close up pictures. I can see on the male connector “Molex” so I at least know the brand.

To help narrow it down, here are some data points I’ve collected:

- the female connector dimensions are approx: 1 x 5/8 x 3/4 inches

- the male connector dimensions are approx 1 1/8 x 5/8 x 5/8 inches

- the female openings are .25 inches wide and .25 inches high. They aren’t perfectly square openings but rather look like a “house” shape…meaning the top is “rounded” and the bottom is “flat/straight”.

- the female has 2 small tabs on the left and right and a small one at the top

- the male has a clip at the top

I THINK they are close to the Molex Standard .093 connectors based on my research but can’t find a match so I can order the right part

Hello,
Welcome to the Digikey TechForum. I wasn’t able to find an exact match but take a look at these similar options. Since you are changing out both connectors it seems you can choose an option that will work with the wire gauge size you are using.

Hello Steve and thank you for the quick reply and feedback. I will check out those options over lunch. Ideally I’m not yet changing out the connectors on the adapter side, the removable battery pack side or the ball throwing machine side… And I’m finding the exact connectors so I can have some backup parts AND so I can modify the battery pack by upgrading to a Lifepo4 from its existing SLA, and splicing the proper connector to a new lithium battery specific charging adapter. I did it with another piece of gear but this brand and manufacturer has these Molex connectors that are a bit harder to determine. I wouldn’t think that things this common would change so much in 10 years that the whole form factor no longer exists.

Just curious, do you know the name of the different connector “holes” that exist? I’ve seen some that around, some that are square, and some that are rounded at the top and flat at the bottom making it look like a house shape. But I haven’t been able to find a page to educate me on the proper terminology.

Hello @allaboutyoukc

These visually look like the Molex Super-Sabre. Please review the following: 1726733002-ND and WM12425-ND. You can find the contacts when you scroll to the bottom and find the associated product.

I’m not sure if the shape itself has a formal name, but the function it serves (preventing reverse insertion) is what’s referred to as polarization or keying.

Best regards.

Jon, Wow you’re the man! I think that’s it! Going to verify a few things with the sales team before ordering. I’m wondering how in the world you narrowed it down. I’m probably 3 hours into researching before finding this forum.
Still trying to find a terminology sheet so I can know proper names of part attributes, lol.
