Must Release Voltage 2.4 VAC/DC

Trying to figure out what the Must Release Voltage
is exactly. I have an output module from a PLC that is a sinking transistor type module. When the output is off there is 5-6 vdc on a true RMS multimeter, across the coil of the interfacing relay. This doesn’t trigger it but dimly lights the LED which is very confusing. When the output if ON, the relay has 24vdc across the coil and the contacts change states with a bright LED. My question: Is the Must release Voltage of 2.4vdc too low that the G2RV-ST700 won’t turn off since there is 5-6vdc still present?

Based on your application it does sound like you would need an option with the higher “must release” voltage. The only problem is that we really don’t have a stocking part that matches enough of the other ratings while having a higher release voltage.

If you are wanting to continue using that relay, obviously the trick would be getting that 5-6VDC to come down within the range of that relay by whatever means you would feel comfortable with your application.

There are other relays out there that would likely have that higher release voltage, but unfortunately, I do not see that we carry one.

I’ve spent some time with the AB Micro800 and PLCs in general.

This does not sound like normal behavior. The control relay should be cleanly off, independent of the sinking or sourcing configuration of the PLC.

Please try a different I/O pin that is at least 4 pins away. As I recall the driver integrated circuits command 4 output terminals each. Be sure to connect all of the CM+ and -CM terminals as shown in this 830 wire diagram. Also, watch out for those flyback diodes. They must “point” to the positive rail.
