Hello,
We are working with a lab-built SDR and are trying to install the firmware.
We followed the JTAG/XSDB procedure to program the boot/FPGA files. After programming, we connected to the board using picocom. U-Boot starts, but we receive the following errors:
U-Boot SDR v0.20-SDR-00066-g90401ce9ce (Oct 15 2024 - 11:07:45 +0200)
I2C: ready
DRAM: ECC disabled 512 MiB
SF: Unsupported flash IDs: manuf 00, jedec 0000, ext_jedec 0000
*** Warning - spi_flash_probe() failed, using default environment
In: serial@e0001000
Out: serial@e0001000
Err: serial@e0001000
Model: Zynq SDR Board
## Resetting to default environment
SF: Unsupported flash IDs: manuf 00, jedec 0000, ext_jedec 0000
Failed to initialize SPI flash at 0:0 (error -93)
After this, we are unable to proceed normally through the serial terminal.
We would like guidance on the correct procedure for initially programming firmware on a lab-built SDR.
Specifically:
Is using XSDB/JTAG to program the boot/FPGA files the correct procedure for a newly assembled SDR?
Which files should be programmed and in what sequence?
Should we be using BOOT.BIN, boot.dfu, pluto.dfu, or another image for this situation?
Does Unsupported flash IDs: manuf 00, jedec 0000 indicate that the SPI flash is not being detected correctly?
Could this be caused by the SPI flash part, hardware connections, boot configuration, or U-Boot configuration?
Is there a recommended JTAG recovery/initial-programming procedure for a SDR built from the reference design?
We can provide the schematic/PCB revision, SPI flash part number, XSDB commands, firmware files used, and complete serial output if required.
We would appreciate guidance on the correct programming procedure and how to diagnose the SPI flash initialization error.
