When searching for [ON Semiconductor](https://www.digikey.com/en/supplier-centers/on-semiconductor) parts such as [NCP114AMX330TCG](https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/on-semiconductor/NCP114AMX330TCG/5181648), you may find other parts with a TBG suffix, instead. The datasheet doesn’t indicate any difference, and yet a difference there is. What is it?

The answer is in ON Semi’s [Tape and Reel Packaging Standards](https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/BRD8011-D.PDF) document, and has to do with the part’s orientation within the reel. ‘TBG’ indicates that Pin 1 of the part is in the upper-right corner of its pocket on the reel, while ‘TCG’ indicates the part is flipped 180 degrees, with Pin 1 in the lower-left corner. There’s no other significance to this part numbering switch; the parts themselves are identical in every respect.
