Hi DigiKey Team,

I found the following part numbers on your website and have attached the catalogue for your reference:

PART 1

  • PCB Header: DF51K-22DP-2DSA(800)

  • Female Connector: DF51K-22DS-2C (800)

  • Terminal: DF51K-22SCF (800)

PART 2

  • PCB Header: DF51K-24DP-2DSA(800)

  • Female Connector: DF51K-24DS-2C (800)

  • Terminal: DF51K-22SCF (800)

Could you please clarify the following:

a) For Part 1 and Part 2, could you confirm if the mating connector and terminal are correct and compatible with the PCB headers that I highlighted above?

b) Can the female connector be released from the PCB header when required, or is it a permanent lock? If it is releaseable, is there a release mechanism (e.g., button, latch, or tab) that can be used to disengage the connector from the PCB header?

c) Based on the catalogue, the applicable wire is UL1061-22AWG. Could you confirm if UL1007-22AWG can also be used? Please refer to the attached wire specification for your perusal.

For Part 1:
a. Yes, DF51K-22DP-2DSA(800) is compatible with DF51K-22DS-2C(800). Also, DF51K-22SCF(800) is compatible with the female connector according to the catalog datasheet.

b. I have not really heard of a permanent lock connector before. The catalog datasheet does point this out on page 16: " The connector could be damaged if pulled out forcibly. When it is hard to pull out, push it in slightly first and then depress the lock and un- mate.
Please refer to “ DF51K mating and un-mating Procedure Document ( DOC180208- 010) ” for points in handling regarding mating operations." I did find reference to this, but all the words are in Japanese (the pictures do make it pretty clear.)

c. It depends on the insulation diameter of the UL1007 22AWG wire that you have. I’m not sure if there is a combination where you both meet UL1007 and the expected insulation size that the catalog datasheet calls out on page 14. I think you have to stick with UL 1061 between 1.2 to 1.45mm size.

The same advice applies to Part 2 for questions b and c. Yes it is compatible with DF51K-24DS-2C(800) and the female mate is compatible with the terminal you listed.
