Request for Flux MSDS/SDS – AO2703+ Soldering Station

------Question for AO2703A Please Put your question below------

Dear DigiKey Support Team,

I am writing to request your assistance in providing the MSDS/SDS (Material Safety Data Sheet / Safety Data Sheet) for the flux that was included with the following soldering station:

  • Product: AO2703+ Soldering Station
  • DigiKey Part Number: 2260-AO2703±ND
  • OB: REDACTED
  • Invoice: REDACTED BOX1
  • DHL Waybill: REDACTED

This shipment is currently being held at Mexican Customs because the customs authorities identified a small container included with the soldering station as a lubricant, and they are requesting an SDS/MSDS in order to determine its proper classification and release the shipment.

I understand that although the substance may physically appear similar to a lubricant, it is actually flux used for soldering applications and is not classified as a lubricant. However, in order to demonstrate its nature and proper classification to Mexican Customs and DHL, I need the corresponding MSDS/SDS or technical safety documentation.

Unfortunately, I only have a photograph of the container, which I am attaching for reference. I do not have the product name, manufacturer, or part number of the flux, so I am unable to locate the SDS myself.

Could you please help me identify the flux included with the AO2703+ soldering station and provide its MSDS/SDS or any official documentation indicating its composition, intended use, and classification?

This information is urgently needed to proceed with the customs clearance and release of DHL shipment REDACTED.

I would greatly appreciate your prompt assistance.

Thank you very much for your support.

Best regards,

Cesar Murcia

Hello @cobra.camb

For a formal SDS/safety documentation to support your customs clearance, please reach out to our Environmental team directly through Environmental Information Request.

As a note, from the instruction manual for the AO2703A+, the kit comes with the “H022 Cleaning Gel”, so that is almost certainly what this jar is.

On their website, they list that product name separately, but little data is given for it there. They do describe it there as a “Silicon Grease for Desoldering Guns”, which seems contrary to the description in the list above. They probably meant to write “Silicone” rather than “Silicon”.

I believe the product would be used during the maintenance procedure for the desoldering gun.
