Seeking proper connections for LM2576S replacement

Not sure on how to connect. The old IC has 3 pins, the replacement has 5 pins. Can I omit pins 4&5 and just use pins 1-3 as gate, drain and source even though the pinout is described differently? The original 3 pin mosfet failed.

The part you are mentioning is a switching buck voltage regulator, the 5 pins are needed.

Whats the part marking on the original part? There is a likelihood we can identify that and find a suitable alternative.

I screwed up the title to my message, wrong ID. The part I am trying to replace is SVF4N65F. I believe it is a 3 pin N-channel mosfet.

I totally screwed up what I was doing, too many things going on at once. I’m pretty sure this will work …STF3N62K3 as an alternative..
