Slug Resistors 15K and 20K Resistance

Looking for part # suggestions for a slug resistor. Need one part for 15K and one part for 20K OHM resistance. RESISTOR, 4.8K - 1/4 WATT

Can you clarify what wattage you are needing and physical dimensions you may require for the 15K and 20K “slug resistor”.

Regarding the 4.8K ohm 1/4W are you needing a standard axial leaded such as RNF14BTD4K81-ND unfortunately these specifications were not in stock for 4.8K ohm 1/4W axial leaded.

Resistor body should be approx. 0.113" L x .065" Diameter. Each End cap should be approx .060" L x .085" Diameter. Total length of 0.233" L. The wattage on the drawing says 0.25 watts. Other info on drawing “4800 OHM, Carbon film core slug with end caps”

Can you clarify what you mean by “slug resistor”? I don’t recall ever hearing that term. Is it related to a particular family of end products, or does it have particular unique characteristics?

Is there a way to attach or paste a photo?

Is that a cylindrical surface mount (no leads) part?

No leads that I’m aware of

OK, that’s typically referred to as a “MELF” (Metal Electrode Leadless Face) resistor.

Ok can supply a few part #'s that would work for both 15K and 20K ohm resistance? Thanks

Both of these are 0.087" Dia x 0.228" L (2.20mm x 5.80mm) MELF package carbon film resistors.

If you can use thin film rather than carbon film, here are a few more options, and with higher quantities of the 15k option available than for carbon film.

Just to be clear, did you also need a 4.8k part, or was that just incidental in your drawing?

Here is are some possible options for MELF resistor of the requested size near the value of 4.8K ohm 1/4W.

This is incidental. The drawing is almost 30 yrs old we just needed a similar resistor with the higher resistance values

OK, gotcha. The two I mentioned above should fit the bill then.

Do the two mentioned above have crystalloid coating?

The datasheet does not mention “crystalloid” coating explicitly. I’m not confidant that one will find a resistor which explicitly states that it has a crystalloid coating today, but I could certainly be wrong on that.

DESCRIPTION

Production is strictly controlled and follows an extensive set of instructions established for reproducibility. A homogeneous and dense carbon film is deposited on a high grade ceramic body (Al2O3). Nickel plated steel termination caps are firmly pressed on the coated rods. Where applicable, a special laser is used to achieve the target value by smoothly cutting a helical groove in the resistive layer without damaging the ceramics.
