SparkFun is a broad-ranging reseller focusing on the maker and hobbyist markets. One of the options it offers here is 13712, a “Qwiic OpenLog” datalogger board using the ATMega328 series of MCUs. We’ve had some questions recently concerning whether these boards ship with their firmware and bootloader already programmed on, or if the boards are completely barren. Which is the case?
These boards are intended to ship out with firmware and bootloader already in place from SparkFun. Do note, however, that there are two versions of the SparkFun Qwiic OpenLog device. 13712 is meant for serial UART communcations. If you’re trying to use this device with an I2C signal, you’ll want 15164 instead. This is a different product entirely, the two cannot be converted between each other with firmware updates or changes.
