SWITCH PIN OUT

------Question for FP 1 F-RA Please Put your question below------

3746-FP1F-RA-ND

What are the pin functions for this switch? There is no data in the data sheet.

Hello beampier,

Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.

The common terminal will be the middle pin. For the other two (Normally Open & Normally Closed), the datasheet says: When looking at the brand name, the normally closed contact is on the right hand side.

Hello David,

Many thanks for the information. I did not see it in the data sheet.

It is strange when manufacturers will not tell you what their product is.

Best regards,

Tim

In this particular case, they only show it in the drawing document - FP 1 F-RA Drawing that we link to a ways down on the Product Detail Page under “Documents and Media”.

From “Product Drawings” document: (Note that the circuit diagram is the bottom view)

Hello David,

Thank you, but I already have this PDF.

The labels A and B convey no information to me. The text ‘BOTTOM VIEW’ suggests that it is probably wrong. Years of experience has taught me this.

Many thanks for your help.

Tim

The “A” solid line indicates the default unpressed normally closed position and the dotted “B” line indicates the momentary closed position.

Looking at page 46 of the catalog document, we see the following:

Unfortunately, their image does not show where the label is, but our image does:

This does correlate with the bottom view of the circuit diagram.

Hello David,

Very good. I was going to ask which way up the lable printing was, but you have beaten me to it.

Best regards,

Tim

Glad to help.

I would say that, regardless of what any document says, I recommend physically testing such items just to be absolutely certain. I have found datasheets to be fallible on rare occasions, so whenever possible, it’s good to verify.

In this particular case, with both the catalog and the diagram agreeing, it’s even less likely to be incorrect, but my statement still stands.

Good day!
