本質的制限付き（Inherently Limited）とは、変圧器が過負荷になると、それ自体が短絡して安全に故障することを意味します。 これにはヒューズは必要ありません。 非本質的制限付き（Non-inherently Limited）とは、変圧器が過負荷になった場合、それ自体が短絡して安全に故障するという事はない可能性があることを意味します。 これにはヒューズが必要です。
