I broke the connector on the ribbon cable when I removed it. Supposedly this is a 20-pin ribbon cable. I have included the picture before I removed it from the mother board. I have also included a picture of the ribbon cable. Please help! Thanks! Vicki

Hello Vicki!

Welcome to The TechForum!

Are you able to determine the pitch of the contacts on the ribbon cable? I would be able to locate some possible alternate connectors if I knew what the pitch is on that cable. If you aren’t quite sure what pitch is, take a look at this post linked below:

> [@Pitch of a Connector](https://forum.digikey.com/t/pitch-of-a-connector/172):
>
> What is the “pitch” of a connector? The pitch is the measurement from the center of one contact to the center of the next contact. The image below shows the measurement of the pitch from contact to contact and between each row. Please note that the pitch between contacts in each row and the pitch between rows are different in this case. They can be the same, but it must always be double checked for a connector with more than one row. [image]

@txdobergirl Did you ever figure this out? I’m in the same predicament.

Hello @jtst,

Could you measure the pitch or the overall width of the ribbon cable? For information on how to measure, please see this post-

> [@Measuring Pitch on Flat Flex Ribbon jumper cables](https://forum.digikey.com/t/measuring-pitch-on-flat-flex-ribbon-jumper-cables/5299):
>
> Here is a little information on looking at the Flat Flex cable jumpers and figuring the Pitch of the Cable. Digi-key does carry the Flat Flex cable jumpers. Here are the [Jumper cable options](https://www.digikey.com/en/products/filter/flat-flex-ribbon-jumpers-cables/457). If you are looking to replace a cable or find one to fit a [FFC/FPC connector](https://www.digikey.com/products/en/connectors-interconnects/ffc-fpc-flat-flexible-connectors/399?k=connector+FFc&k=&pkeyword=connector+FFc&sv=0&pv1989=0&sf=0&FV=-8%7C399&quantity=&ColumnSort=0&page=1&stock=1&pageSize=25) the Pitch requirement will be important. The Pitch will be the center to center spacing of the conductors on the cable. The formula used is Cable Width = (# of conductors + 1)(Pitch) The + 1 is referring to the ends…

To see the options we have in our system, please go to this link: [Flat Flex Ribbon Jumpers, Cables | Electronic Components Distributor DigiKey](https://www.digikey.com/en/products/filter/flat-flex-ribbon-jumpers-cables/457?s=N4IgjCBcoExgbPKoAOAXKICSA7NBTAc3wCcQAaEAWwEsdMYAGC6gQwA8HmBfbymKAG0QAMwA2rNAAJx%2BdlIDGrAEZj8IALrcgA)

Thank you!

-Jeff
