What is the difference between Molex: 0430250400 and 0430250408?

As near as I can tell, all of the specs are the same for these two connectors. Cost is slighty different: $0.40 vs $0.44.

Can someone explain the difference?

Thanks

Hello richard2

Welcome to the TechForum.

The difference between these two parts is the housing material.

Hi richard2,

Great question!

The only thing I have found so far is that, although they are both considered “Low Halogen”, only the 430250408 was Low Halogensince inception”. Every other specification seems to be identical.

As listed below, they both appear to be nylon now.

The “…0400” is an older part number. Of the two, it’s the only one that existed in our last printed catalog in 2011. My theory is that Molex came out with the “…0408” sometime later as a low-halogen option, but then they retroactively made the better known “…0400” version to be low-halogen as well.

From Molex’s website comparing the two part numbers:

Thank you very much!
