What is the typical defect rate of MICROCHIP's original factory, and what range is considered normal
AFAIK, the original factories from 1989 produced parts mostly for the disk drive industry and no longer exist in their original form.
In the 21st century Microchip has many factories around the globe and all of them are operated according to their corporate standards. All the components they produce, at all their factories, meet Microchip’s very high reliability standards.
In 30 years of using many different component types from Microchip I have found all their parts to be as reliable as any of the other top semiconductor manufacturers.
