Will You Build - Animal Trap Alert

Hello, I need a product that has the following ability for my Kief Snake Traps. I need to have it manufactured at minimum qty 50 units.

Operation

  • When Magnet is removed from the reed switch the device trigger a Loop/Recurring Beep Signal from the sensor itself. Similar to an computer UPS when it lose AC supply.

- The beep need to last for atleast 7 days or longer maintaining the beep to make sure someone will notice it untill they get back home to check on the captured snake.

  • Needs to work with batteries. Can be rechargeable.

Hi @kieftraps ,

That would be a fairly easy to implement. However, for getting someone to build a batch, you may need to provide some further information:

  • Which country? (for a such product the shipping may be more expensive than the actual unit)
  • Cost target?
  • IP-rating? (i.e. does it need to survive heavy rain etc.)
  • Temperature range? (at sub-zero snakes do not move much, but the unit may be stored outside)

If there is a college or university near you, you could propose that as a class project.

Cheers, heke

Hi Heke, thanks for your reply. Yes its a very easy straightforward unit. I just need it built.

  • South Africa

  • R200

  • None needed because it is fitted inside an Enclosed Snake Trap. But Dust and Splash Proof is welcome. This alarm in the video needs to be replaced.

  • Temp Range would be 0-50 degrees celsius

I want to get this manufactured professionally but do not have the resources.

Hi @kieftraps,

Thank you for the specs.

One more thing that may be important:

  • The sound level of the buzzer, i.e. how far it should be audible in rural area? Is pulsed sound OK? (i.e. “beep-beep”, saves battery, extends the perception range)

Cheers, heke

Beep- Beep is preferred. I take it that you saw the video? My initial idea is that it should sound similar to a Desktop UPS when it lose AC and runs on battery. It’s got a Irritating Loud Beep every 3 or 4 seconds. Sound level I would say about 40 decibels? But anything around that would work great. My main thing is that the battery life needs to keep the beep active for atleast 7 days. Reason being is that you might be on holliday and when you get back you will be notified immediately.

Hi @kieftraps ,

Thanks. Actually, I tried to see the video, but it got stuck, so I quit. Anyway, I saw a snake around your neck, so why do you need the trap? … sorry, a joke. ..

An interesting project and a nice product. I hope someone will take the bait. (I could build that for you, but it would take quite some time). I’ll spread the word.

Cheers, heke

Lol, no thats not me, is a Snake Handler in South Africa showing his friends the trap. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?ref=saved&v=2041252919955521

I am currently working with someone local to develop the alarm but I am afraid that he wont be able to help me build it consumer ready, and not just as a proto type. So I am trying to get a headstart to see who would be able to manufacture them for me.

We do list manufacturing providers that you can reach out to to see if they would work on this project.

Hello @kieftraps

Regarding rechargeable Lipo battery and charge circuit board check out these options from Adafruit. Batteries Products Category on Adafruit Industries We carried a lot of these. Example charger 1528-1349-ND to be used with a lipo battery such as 1528-1838-ND. There’s a large variety of reed switch sensors (click here) to use with target magnets. Regarding the buzzers please check out the options listed as indicators internally driven. Indicator Buzzers filtered for 3-5V.

Thanks Nathan I appreciate that. Will see if I can find them. I am new to this forum

Thanks Troy, but I need someone that can build and supply it for me. I am beyond the prototype phase.
