Trying to determine if I can use 35mm^2 wire for this fuse as it is rated for 150A.

Hello Kye,

Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.

You will need to use a wire size that is adequate for your application, and current.

A google search for that cable size, says that for flexible battery or welding cables, it should be able to handle about 240A.

Varying definitions apply to the word “can.”

Wiring a service entrance fused for 150A with 35mm2 (~2AWG) conductors is not likely to be a thing that the electrical inspector would think highly of.

But can a short 2AWG conductor reasonably carry 150+ amps for the short periods needed to start a car? Yes.

Check the National Electric Code or other applicable authority for guidelines that pertain to the intended use case. Evaluate for electrical losses and expected conductor temperature rise, both under anticipated operating conditions and worst-case fault as defined by the fuse characteristics.
