I am working in the dev scene.
Integration is the name of the game now.

The final product is never completely the sum of the parts, because something totally stupid will break depencies in the most unlikely of places, so that failure leads us almost inevitably to find a work around and to trust “the component bits” less and less, while keeping a clear eye on the central objective.
Creativity and an ability to invent something nobody has thought of before, is a rather rare and disparaged talent.
Once it’s been invented & integrated as a logical approach, which usually flies in the face of decades of legacy kludges of course, there will never be any shortage of A-holes who will turn around and say “there was nothing original about that idea at all”

Been there, done that, seen the video, read the book, BEEN THERE!
