I believe we need a buffer that can support rise/fall times of ~10nS in order to support a 48MHz clock rate. I am not finding buffers with those specifications.
1727-3100-1-ND shows on the Datasheet, that is has a Rise and Fall rate of 10ns/V, if you use 2.7V to 5.5V for the Vcc. This is on page 4 of the datasheet, under the Recommended operation conditions.
