74HC4050D obsolescence

I ordered this part last week and it’s listed as active on the DigiKey website, but I just got an email that said it’s now obsolete. Just wanted clarification on the status of 74HC4050D.

On a related note, let me add a tip for using the DigiKey search engine.

  • There are often many related parts that may be suitable replacements for your design.

  • We can use keyword search with a logic and such as “4050 and buffer”.

  • Carefully search the net to determine the product(s) best suited for your project.

We figured out it was most likely user error. We meant to order 74HC4050D,653 instead.
