I recently purchased an ED-HMI3020-101C, and according to the specifications, it supports M.2 storage. However, I am unable to find a connector for an M.2 SSD.
Do I need a different type of display to use M.2 storage?
It appears that the SSD is meant to be ordered as a factory-configured option. It’s quite possible that devices ordered without would omit population of the connector as a cost-saving measure.
Rick is absolutely correct. For the ED-HMI3020-101C series, the M.2 SSD is a factory-configured option. If the device was ordered with the “Without SSD” configuration (Code ‘0’), the necessary M.2 connector and related circuitry are not populated on the board.
To ensure you get the M.2 storage in your next order, please refer to our Ordering Code guide. You will need to select a model where the SSD digit is specified as ‘1’ (128GB) or ‘2’ (256GB).
Important Note for Pi 5 Models: As shown in the datasheet note: Since the Raspberry Pi 5 does not have onboard eMMC, when selecting a model, you must choose at least one storage medium: either an SD card or an SSD, to ensure the system is bootable.
