I want to get a matching set of Molex connectors.
I found Molex 0039013045 and Molex 0469990276, which I think should match but how can I know for sure?
They are from a different family, one is Mini-Fit Jr 5559 and the other Mini-Fit Jr 5557
Also, apparently I need the crimps for them.
Are the crimps also specifically matching each type (one type of crimp for male and the other for female)? All the crimps I found are from a yet different family: Mini-Fit Jr 5556
Also, what are some of the differences between the models in the same family? For example, what is the difference between 2 female connector houses: Molex 0039039042 and Molex 0039013045?
I’ve spent a significant amount of time trying to understand this but it just seems a bit messy and someone with experience would now immediately

Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.
The 5559 series mates to the 5557 series.
If you check the second page of the Datasheet, it will say the Receptacle Housing is series 5557, and the Plug Housing is series 5559.

The difference between the two housings you mentioned, is the material they are made of. 0039039042 is made of Polyamide (PA66), Nylon 6/6.
0039013045 is made of Polyamide (PA66), Nylon 6/6, Glass Filled.

Regarding the different characteristics of different housings, and different contacts.
I am looking for a set of connectors that will fit 5A current, on 2 of the 4 wires, and be able to withstand fluctuating ambient temperatures (from -40 to +30 Celsius).
I’m pretty sure I have AWG#20, which should be fine (I will make sure early next week).
So does it make a difference if it is Glass Filled or not?
Any other parameters to consider?
About the contacts, what are some differences for example between 0039000038 and 0039000039? Both are CONN SOCKET 18-24AWG CRIMP TIN from the Mini-Fit Jr 5556 family

The only difference between contacts 0039000038 and 0039000039 is packaging
0039000038 comes on a 4,000 pc tape and reel
0039000039 is in Bulk packaging.
